Introduction
I’m Christopher Smith and I’m a wildlife photographer. I hail from the Pacific Northwest where I grew up in the Columbia River Gorge. Being able to enjoy the brisk fresh air of the outdoors is my personal haven. Whether its the mountains or marshes, I’m always eager to discover where my camera will take me next.
Mission & Mindset
I’ve always been fascinated with wildlife and it’s natural habitat. The safety of our planet’s creatures is very important. It is my mission to help promote and spread conservation awareness through my lens.
The greatest time to photograph wildlife are brisk mornings and evenings when activity is prime and the sun shines like gold on the horizon. When it comes to wildlife, timing is key. Waiting that extra minute makes all the difference. In essence, this is the vision and mindset of my photography.
About Me
My journey as a photographer took its first few steps in 2024, but my love for nature began long before that. Being in the outdoors has always been my haven and my greatest joy. In my childhood I would fall asleep in bed to the sounds of wildlife on a cassette tape.
I was fortunate to go hunting and fishing with my father at a young age, which gravitated me to the great outdoors. Additionally, helping my mother in her garden, crawling on my hands and knees played into getting down at eye level with my subject.
Throughout high school, much of my time was spent in the art room. I’ve been able to transform those talents from pencil to camera. My experience in the boy scouts helped crystalize who I am today, sustaining me with a desire for adventure and exploration.
